Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) is a level 6 hospital according to the current health sector strategic plan. It is located in Kisumu city and is the main referral hospital in western Kenya whose role is mainly to offer specialist curative and rehabilitation services, and this makes it a good study site that is able to cover a large sample of participants. It hosts students from the local universities and medical/public health institutions who use it both for practical and research activities.
